Lately these haven't been particularly challenging, but I've hit a wall on this one after an XYZ and Finned X-Wing.

Code:

| 268  1    3468 | 2489 239 7    | 5    4689 489 |
| 9    2458 3458 | 248  23  6    | 1    7    48  |

SE rates this as an 8.9 out of about 12.

Here is a report, not based on the markup though,
based on the cells that were solved.

This Sudoku can be solved using the following logical methods:
40 x Hidden Single
1 x Direct Hidden Pair
1 x Naked Single
5 x Pointing
3 x Claiming
1 x Naked Pair
1 x XYZ-Wing
2 x XY-Wing
2 x Turbot Fish
1 x Forcing Chain
2 x Nishio Forcing Chains
3 x Cell Forcing Chains
5 x Region Forcing Chains
1 x Dynamic Region Forcing Chains

Sudoku Explainer gives a rating based on the single hardest step.

My path from Marty’s grid:
01: Look at AUR(48)r23c49 => (9)r2c9=(8)r1c6
(ht468=9)r7c239-(9)r2c9=(8)r1c6-(8=hp46)r14c1-(4)r8c1=(4)r7c23 => r7c7<>4
02: 9’s r4c2=r5c2-r5c7=r6c8-r1c8=r1c6-r9c6=r9c4 => r4c4<>9, some singles and from here SS solver can finish this puzzle
Note: ht - hidden triple, hp - hidden pair

Thanks. Based on those comments it's no surprise that I reached an impasse.

wow.
this is what I have so far.
(6=4)r4c1 - (4=8)r6c3 - (8)r6c8 = (8)r5c7 - (8=6)r9c7 - (6)r9c4 = (6)r8c45; r8c1 <> 6
(6=8)r9c7 - (8=9)r5c7 - (9)r5c2 = (9-5)r4c2 = (5-2)r3c2 = (2)r9c2; r9c2 <> 6
(4)r1c12 = (4)r1c8 - (4)r8c8 = (4)r8c1; r2c1 <> 4
xyz-wing {4,8,9} removes 8 from r6c7
ER 8 removes 8 from r7c3
still working...
