In the first diagram, the 1 for column 4 must be in row 1.

After quite a few additional "basics", there is a 2 step traditional wing solution: xy wing 346 pinching row 4 col 5 on 6 followed by xy wing 136 pinching row 8 col 4 on 6.

Hi Everyone
Yes, excuse me,
this is the first correct scheme, on which to apply the W-Wing or UR

Code:

+---------+------------+---------+
| 3  9  8 | 1  46  56  | 2 7  45 |
| 7  4  6 | 9  23  25  | 8 1  35 |
| 1  5  2 | 34 8   7   | 6 9  34 |
+---------+------------+---------+
| 5  26 9 | 7  136 16  | 4 23 8  |
| 8  7  3 | 2  5   4   | 1 6  9  |
| 4  26 1 | 36 9   8   | 5 23 7  |
+---------+------------+---------+
| 29 1  4 | 5  7   29  | 3 8  6  |
| 26 8  7 | 46 246 3   | 9 5  1  |
| 69 3  5 | 8  16  169 | 7 4  2  |
+---------+------------+---------+

also the second scheme is affected by the incorrect cleaning of the various cells.
Maybe I did not activate the auto sweep.

Ciao Gianni

Auto sweep? Goodness! I don't use auto anything.

I print each day's puzzle and work on it on paper. I have always been able to solve each puzzle and don't consult this site until I have done so.

And I thoroughly enjoy myself.

(By the way, as to "traditional" methods, since this site was first established there has never been a puzzle that could not be solved using "basics", or x or xy or xyz wings, and I recall indirect word from the dailysudoku's creator that we can expect this to remain the case. Still, I appreciate the input from Gianni and everyone else.)

That's how I do the puzzles too Robert. Nice to hear there are still "pencil and paper" solvers around and about. Keep enjoying!

cheers...immp
