This is a very interesting puzzle and what follows is not the single shot but observations.

Look at the green squares.

They are arranged in such a way that there are many interpretations on offer. You can also see it as pincer heaven or ALS bonanza.

So let's consider the configurations of pincers:

Pincers for 1 at r8c1 and r9c2 means r8c2 < > 1
Pincers for 3 at r8c1 and r6c1 means r2c1 < > 3
Pincers for 4 at r6c1 and r5c2 means r46c2 < > 4 (includes 4 in pink square)
Pincers for 5 at r9c2 and r5c2 means r6c2 < > 5

There is an overlapping AALS

Set A {3,4,5,8,9} Yellow + purple square
Set B {3,5,8} Green + purple square

Restricted Common is 8

Common candidate is 3 so r4c4 {red} is < > 3.

However the extra 3 in r6c1 prevents this so what if it were true ?

+3r6c1-(3=1)r8c1-(1=5)r9c2-(5=9)r9c4-(9=238)r8c46,r7c6-(38=5)r8c5-(5=3)r4c5 and r4c4 is also < > 3

Just one postscript for me.

If you look at the purple square <358> you are on to a winner every time:

If purple = 3 then red = 4 and puzzle solved
if purple = 5 then green = 3 and red = 4 and puzzle solved
..and if its 8 ? Puzzle solved.

You can also look at NOT 8 which leaves purple as <35> which pairs with the other <35> in r4c5 and so once again red = 4 and puzzle solved.

Whether purple is 8 or not does not matter.
