Similar to a recent puzzle. A couple of one-steppers:

1. XYZ-Wing 789 pivot at r1c2 setting r3c2<>8

2. XYZ-Wing 378 pivot at r3c2 setting r1c2<>7

A couple of two steppers:

a common first step of a type 3 UR in 37 at c23 setting r39c2<>7 followed by a choice of:

1.XY-Wing 378 pivot at r3c2 setting r9c3<>7

2.XY-Wing 378 pivot r7c2 setting r9c2 and r3c3<>3 |

Color me dense.

Basic

 	  | Code: |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 89  789  6   | 4   27    5    | 1   28 3 |

| 2   1    4   | 68  68    3    | 9   7  5 |

| 5   378  378 | 27  9     1    | 4   28 6 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 68  4    128 | 5   12678 2678 | 78  3  9 |

| 7   5689 289 | 3   268   268  | 58  4  1 |

| 3   58   18  | 9   178   4    | 578 6  2 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 1   78   5   | 278 3     278  | 6   9  4 |

| 689 2    89  | 1   4     68   | 3   5  7 |

| 4   367  37  | 67  5     9    | 2   1  8 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

Your step one leads logically to:

 	  | Code: |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 89  789  6   | 4   27    5    | 1   28 3 |

| 2   1    4   | 68  68    3    | 9   7  5 |

| 5   37   378 | 27  9     1    | 4   28 6 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 68  4    128 | 5   12678 2678 | 78  3  9 |

| 7   5689 289 | 3   268   268  | 58  4  1 |

| 3   58   18  | 9   178   4    | 578 6  2 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

| 1   78   5   | 278 3     278  | 6   9  4 |

| 689 2    89  | 1   4     68   | 3   5  7 |

| 4   367  37  | 67  5     9    | 2   1  8 |

+--------------+----------------+----------+

 |

Step two seem not to follow. What am I missing?

"Similar to a recent puzzle. A couple of one-steppers:

...

2. XYZ-Wing 378 pivot at r3c2 setting r1c2<>7"?

				| I agree. The solution posted makes no sense. Could someone explain it better? |

				| Ema, in your first grid there should not be an 8 in r3c3 because of the 1289 quad in column 3. This will change things considerably. |
